The Surveys

Some of the potential archaeology surveyed.

As part of the project we commissioned a number of surveys in our search for the old hall.

The surveys were carried out between April and May 2019 and we had plenty of volunteers only too happy to join in despite the cool weather.

We used four different forms of survey:  geophysics (resistivity); tape and offset; Drone and LIDAR.

Whilst these methods are very different in the way they are carried out, they all had the same aim – to assess the nature of the archaeology at Radbourne (both the lumps and bumps we could already see, as well as any hidden archaeology) and to help us decide where the best places to excavate were.

Click on the links below to find out more about each of the methods and the results.
